A gang was sentenced last week for the theft of Range Rovers worth hundreds of thousands from across the region.
They used gadgets like signal jammers and skeleton keys to steal the expensive vehicles from homes, car parks and town centres in Trafford, Rochdale and Cheshire.
At the end of an investigation led by GMP Trafford, five men from Rochdale, Royton and Longsight were arrested.
The force’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit stopped the gang in a BMW around five months ago, and all of them were sentenced at Manchester Crown Court last week.
After admitting conspiracy to steal and going equipped to steal, Michael Andrews, 33, of Ansdell Road, Rochdale, and Faisal Hussain, 29, of Shaw Road, Royton, were sentenced to three years and nine months.
For the same offences, Nazish Shakeel, 30, of Northmoor Road, Longsight, received three years and seven months in prison and Jonathan Langley, 28, of St Mary’s Close, Rochdale received three years in prison.
Shaun Andrews, 28, of Ansdell Road, Rochdale, received a suspended sentence after admitting conspiracy to steal only.
DCI Nicola Walton, of GMP Trafford said: “This is an excellent result. Here at GMP, we are committed to bringing car thieves such as these to justice and ensuring they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
